Faded Glory

You can imagine that when these flowers were originally painted on the back wall of this building, the artist was quite proud of his/her work. It added some color and life to the drab backside of a building. It’s not the part of the building that most customers would see, but perhaps the delivery people would appreciate a little color. Over time, the paint began to fade and peel. Maybe it was too much work or too much expense to restore the flowers. After all, it’s only a back wall. Then a photographer came along, one who appreciates old, faded things. He found the old wall and its faded mural interesting enough to squeeze off a couple of quick shots with his camera as he was walking back to his truck one day. Maybe because he’s a little older himself, he’s learned that things don’t always have to be new and bright to be interesting. (Click on photo to enlarge.)
