Regular visitors to My Viewfinder know I have a thing for old stuff, so naturally, this old vending machine caught my eye. This is the face of an old Royal Crown Soda machine, now being sold as an antique (as is) at an antique store in Maggie Valley, NC. How old is it? I’m not real sure, but the decal below the coin slot reads, “Deposit nickels, dimes, or quarter”. That’s “quarter” singular. One quarter. And you probably got change back from that one quarter. That takes this machine back quite a ways, doesn’t it? That oval opening on the lower right side - it’s a bottle opener. How many of you remember those? No, kids, they didn’t have twist-off caps in those days. (Click on photo to enlarge.)
